This is a photo of Gyaldak Rinpoche teaching at Saturday night’s White Tara Empowerment, an annual event for Pema Khandro‘s birthday held at the Berkeley MahaSiddha Center.
Chief of the Berkeley Center, Tsalgyur, wrote about the event:
“Gyaldak Rinpoche gave very down to earth teachings on respecting others, having a kindness for all beings (especially our mothers and fathers). He taught about the importance of caring for our bodies and a perfect topic for Pema Khandro‘s birthday – he encouraged a vegetarian diet, the negative karma from eating meat. He shared about seeing younger generations choosing this compassionate lifestyle and how inspiring it is to him. He was very generous with his time and energy, answering many questions and dialogue with guests. He shared about the importance of accepting impermanence in the form of loved ones dying or illness. He also taught about the two kinds of attachment, one is the grasping that creates harm and suffering for self/others and the other is our healthy attachment in the sense of connection. His most important message was… Be happy, have joy, life goes up and down but that is life so don’t lose hope and be hopeful and strong.”
