Dear Friends, It has been difficult to see the California fires continue, where so many of our community live. My prayers go out to everyone affected. Thankfully Dakini Mountain continues to be far away from fires and continues to be safe. We have decided that since so many of us must remain home to go ahead with the Dakini Day Chod tomorrow, especially since we may have only a couple of them left before the end of the year. Chod is a meditation especially for working with ones mind in difficult times so it is an important time to train. We have also adjusted some of our fall schedule in light of so many things taking place, the pandemic, the fires in California and power outages. That new schedule is enclosed below. May bodhichitta be our ground. Wishing you moments of peace,

2020 Fall Calendar

Dear Friends,
Due to the impact of the fires, evacuations following the upheaval of the pandemic, we have changed the dates for the program for September and October. We apologize for an inconvenience this has caused and also this gave us the opportunity to add some programs including classes with Geshe Sonam and a Vajrayogini Practice date for our Vajrayogini practitioners.

FALL QUARTER – ONLINE OPEN TEACHINGS
*All times are listed in Pacific Time UTC-7 (Timezone Converter)

Sept 22nd – 24th, 8am – 9am

Guide to Bodhisattva’s Way of Life with Geshe Sonam
Study the guide to the way of life of love and compassion, the classic text at the heart of Mahayana Buddhism. This class covers essential topics of Buddhist philosophy including emptiness, bodhichitta (the altruistic enlightened intent) and the nature of wisdom. Geshe Sonam-la will teach from Chapter, 6, 8 and Chapter 9 offers, which one of the most succinct encapsulations of Madhyamaka philosophy. By Donation.

Sept 26th, 10am – 1pm

Vajrayogini: Teachings and Practice with Pema Khandro
Vajrayogini Practice with Pema Khandro – Vajrayogini is the embodiment of wisdom, joy and fierce compassion, a female buddha venerated by all the traditions of Tibetan Buddhism. Vajrayogini meditation is practiced as a meditation to realize innate wisdom and intrinsic courage. This class will review the three Vajrayogini meditations: from the Rinchen Trengwa including the Concise Chod and 100,000 Dakinis and the Generation stage Vajrayogini meditation. Pre-requisite: attendance of Vajrayogini Empowerment (or see self paced course to catch up).

Excellent Path
The Buddhist Philosophy Open Teaching is a thirty-minute webinar, open to the public. The class starts with the Tibetan Buddhist meditation with refuge and bodhichitta prayers from the Heart Essence of the Vast Expanse (Dzogchen Nyingthig) and silent meditation instruction known as Calm Abiding Meditation (Zhine). Following this is a study of a text that walks through core instructions of Buddhist philosophy step by step in their pith form. This book is called “Excellent Path to Enlightenment,” Longchenpa’s guide to meditation. The goal of this class is to provide accessible, concise opportunities to study Buddhism from home. By Donation.

Oct 5th-8th, 6 – 7:15pm

Conversations on Buddhism & Sexuality
The subject of Buddhism and Sexuality is a complex issue approached in a variety of ways throughout history. Most recently, in the wake of the #metoo movement, news about sexual abuse and sexual misconduct in Buddhism has brought forward important questions. This series provides a platform for contemplating these questions and the greater context of Buddhist ethics. The goal is to raise awareness, promote education and highlight resources. The series will feature four evenings of conversations between Pema Khandro and Buddhist scholars and teachers. By Donation.

Oct 12, 11am-1pm
